A vacancy has arisen for a Transport Operations Manager working out of our Carlisle depot, for our Edinburgh Woollen Mill contract.

What is the purpose of the role?

To provide leadership and engagement to a retail transport operation, delivering clothing to the high street in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

To actively manage the day to day operation ensuring all standard operational processes are adhered to including tachograph rules, fleet compliance and HR processes such as absence and disciplinary procedures.

To be accountable for ensuring the contract KPI’s are met and to embed a positive culture reflective of company values, providing hands on support across the contract.

The operations manager is expected to operate as a working team member and be prepared to support across the operation. They will however be primarily office based and key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

·Responsibility for managing all Clipper staff on site

·Vehicle compliance and defects-monitor the compliance planner and ensure all vehicles being used are fully compliant, ensure any planned and adhoc maintenance is carried out

·Driver compliance-manage drivers hours and infringements with follow up actions, ensure driver licenses are correct and in date

·Ensure all H&S processes, SOP’s and reporting is adhered too and all employees fully inducted and trained.

·Carry out H&S meetings and reviews

·Question and challenge cost looking to continually optimise the operation

·Manage holidays and absence guaranteeing the correct resource is in place

·Carry out investigations and disciplinaries as required

·Ensure all reporting is completed and attend weekly contract calls

·Embed the company values within the site and a positive culture, challenging attitudes which don’t align to this

·Cover other office staff when on leave and support the warehouse when supervisors are absent

·Ensure the operational KPI’s are met-including meeting despatch and delivery times

·Manage key relationships with subcontractors and agencies

·Manage day to day communication with the customer ensuring they are aware of issues which arise with stores and deliveries

·Liase with other depots to manage the flow of stock
