Steve Parkin, leading Yorkshire businessman and founder of Clipper Logistics, was named Business Leader of the Year at the Variety Yorkshire Business Awards. The win marks a high-profile recognition of Steve’s contribution to the region’s business sector, foregrounded by the exceptional success of Clipper, and its innovation in the world of retail logistics.
Announced at a city-centre ceremony at the beginning of December, the awards acknowledge the success, growth and potential of Yorkshire’s best businesses and their leading figures. Steve was chosen as the winner in this category for his outstanding contribution to business. Since he founded Clipper in 1992, the business has become a leading provider of value-added, solutions-driven logistics services, working with many of the UK’s leading retailers, and employing over 3,000 full-time employees.
Steve also holds several property interests, and has significantly supported various charities; his work has had a huge impact on the regional economy, and national and international logistics sectors. Speaking about the award, he said: “I am delighted to be recognised as a business leader by such esteemed awards. This recognition is a great achievement, both personally and professionally, and I am incredibly proud to receive the award. It’s fantastic to be part of a list of such successful and prominent Yorkshire businessmen, and I’m honoured to be acknowledged amongst the region’s best.”
Sponsored by children’s charity Variety, which aims to improve the lives of young people by providing support and equipment to children across the country, the Variety Business Awards have been running for almost three decades, with the past two years seeing Endless LLP’s Gary Wilson and Dart Group’s Philip Meeson win the prestigious Business Leader award. The esteemed accolade places Steve amongst the big names of business leadership in Yorkshire, a well-deserved recognition of his continued hard work, investment and commitment in every aspect of what he does.
