Clipper Wins Impact Through Innovation at enei Awards 2019

Retail logistics provider Clipper has won the Impact Through Innovation award at the 2019 Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (enei) awards.

The enei is the UK’s leading employer network covering all aspects of equality and inclusion in the workplace. The Impact Through Innovation award recognises an organisation that has innovated their diversity approach, stepped away from conventional diversity initiatives ad introduced an approach that sets new standards for the promotion of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Clipper has been recognised for its far-reaching and multi-layered approach in offering opportunities to a range of individuals through their Fresh Start initiative, opening their doors to people who might otherwise have a barrier into entering the world of work. Clipper has also been recognised for their training strategy which includes its own internal 18-month graduate scheme aimed at developing the skills, knowledge and ambitions of its recruits; a driver CPC programme using state-of-the-art simulation cabs; and a degree apprenticeship programme developed in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University and the Institute of Leadership and Management

These programmes demonstrate Clipper’s commitment to recruiting, developing and nurturing the best talent in the logistics industry. Clipper strives to support its workers at every level – from providing the best education, to supplying the tools people need to succeed. To ensure this level of personal development continues, Clipper developed Team Clipper, an initiative that celebrates the breadth and depth of knowledge and experience found across each of the Clipper sites and encourages staff to work as a team so that they can continue to deliver in line with Clipper’s brand promise of agility, ability and credibility.

Richard Cowlishaw, Group HR Director at Clipper Logistics says: “To be awarded at a prestigious event which recognises leading Diversity and Inclusion schemes across all industries and in both public and private sectors is a huge honour. I am immensely proud of all our employees who have contributed to achieving this award, but also every employee who has embraced our very new, transformational strategy and made it an intrinsic part of our culture.”

UKWA Honours Clipper CEO With Chairmans Award

Tony Mannix, Chief Executive Officer at Clipper Logistics plc has been honoured by the UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) with the Chairman’s Award.

The award honours an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to the logistics industry. The announcement was made at the association’s flagship event on 27th June 2019. It is one of the highlights of the industry calendar and is attended by over 400 peers, colleagues and associates.

Tony joined Clipper in 2006, and has a career in retail logistics that spans more than three decades. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport, a Fellow of the Institute of Couriers, he has a wealth of experience and a true passion for retail, which has seen him work alongside some of the biggest names in the sector including The John Lewis Partnership, Asda, ASOS and Superdry.

Speaking about the recognition, Tony said: “I am humbled to be honoured with the Chairman’s Award. We have worked hard to position Clipper at the forefront of innovation. In retail, the speed of change can be daunting, and the complex issues retailers face mean that they need an agile, multi-channel logistics partner who can help keep them ahead of the retail curve, whilst driving performance. I’m proud that Clipper has become that partner for so many key players in the industry.

We are now at the forefront of e-fulfilment, having created rapid and integrated returns solution Boomerang, and Clicklink, a retail-focused Click & Collect Solution.

I am proud of the role I have played, and the recognition Clipper has received as a result. I look forward to continuing this success.”

Clipper Shortlisted for Motor Transport Awards 2019

Clipper Logistics is pleased to announce it has been shortlisted for the Partnership Award at the Motor Transport Awards 2019, an award that celebrates genuine partnerships between operators, customers and suppliers.

With emissions high on the agenda, Clipper has long been committed to limiting the impact their operations have on the environment. As a result, Clipper began working together with Northern Commercials, IVECO, Don Bur and TIP in a unique five-way partnership in order to make changes to their fleet as part of their renewal strategy.

Pooling in their respective experience in logistics, transport operations and commercial vehicles, the five-way partnership fuelled Clipper’s goal to reduce not only just CO2 emissions, but also to reduce unnecessary road miles, whilst ensuring the miles accumulated were least cost.

Delivering on their vision, Clipper introduced 11 new vehicles and 16 uniquely designed semi-trailers exclusively designed to reduce emissions and increase capacity. These new vehicles and trailers are the largest most environmentally friendly in the industry, and is only the first step in Clipper’s fleet renewal strategy, paving the way for a low-carbon road transport network.

The Motor Transport Awards 2019 will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Park Lane on 3rd July 2019 to celebrate, recognise and reward excellence in the road freight transport industry.
